Our Story

Shankeys was born from a simple, genius idea: mash together the richness of Indian cuisine with the comfort and humour of Irish hospitality. Built inside what used to be an old betting shop, the restaurant was co-founded by two childhood friends — one Irish, one South Asian — who saw food as a way to tell stories, provoke nostalgia, and push boundaries. The name “Shankeys” itself is a playful nod to diasporic identity and cultural mischief — a place where curry sauce meets boxty, and no one's confused.

Popular Dishes & Bold Flavours

Shankeys’ menu is a full-on sensory party. The Chaat Potatoes, tossed in a turmeric and poitín butter, are crispy and comforting with a zing from the green chilli chutney. Then there's the Cauliflower Cheese Paratha, a mashup of Britain’s Sunday roast vibes and street-food joy — oozy, crunchy, and impossible to put down.

One of the house favourites is the Naga Chicken — sweet, sticky, and laced with just enough fire from the naga chilli to make you break a sweat (but in a good way). Meat-lovers will find solace in the Salt Marsh Lamb Leg, slow-cooked till fall-apart tender, served with a bone marrow cumin broth that’s rich, earthy, and totally addictive. And for something from the sea, the XO Sea Bream is served whole, swimming in a light but flavour-packed broth that speaks both East and West fluently.

Vibe Check

The energy inside Shankeys is as bold as the menu. Neon lights, mismatched tables, and a soundtrack that swings from Punjabi bangers to 90s Irish pub anthems make it clear: this isn’t your average dining experience. The staff? Warm, sassy, and quick with a recommendation or a joke. It’s the kind of place where you can rock up solo or with a crew, and still feel like you belong.
